Excerpt Yet our faith needs to go still further than that. It needs to become faith not just in what God does, but in Who He is. God has a far bigger vision of things than we do. Often, He can see that the thing that we think would be just what we need at the moment would in fact be a major disaster, either right now or somewhere down the line. Or, that the thing we feel is the worst that could possibly happen to us in a given situation will actually be the thing that in time releases immeasurable blessing into our lives. If our faith is only in what God does, and He doesn't do the thing that we think would be best, or if He does the thing that we think would be terrible, then our faith will be shattered. If our faith is in Who He is, then it will not matter what He does, we will still have faith in Him. This is what the Psalmist means when he says in Psalm 91:4, "... His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart." (NIV)
